2023 Round Rock Dry Riesling

Round Rock is a relatively new site for us, located directly across the road from Caywood at approximately 900 feet of elevation, similar to Wagner Caywood, which lies just half a mile to the north. The terroir here mirrors that of Wagner Caywood, with the same abundant shale, yet the wine from Round Rock expresses itself differently. It tends to showcase more vibrant floral and citrus notes, with a dynamic energy that brings to mind a Sancerre rather than Chablis. There's a lively, zippy character that adds a unique charm to the wine.

We appreciate the contrast between the three sites and their distinct expressions in the glass. Caywood offers a bouquet of meadow flowers, Wagner Caywood delivers a focused minerality, and Round Rock stands out with its bright orange pith and floral punch. These three neighboring sites, each with its own personality. The joys of Riesling in the Finger Lakes.
