2024 Club Road Pinot Noir
This special vineyard with cuttings taken and grafted from the Leidenfrost Vineyard are definitely Pommard clone, as they exhibit all the character, small berries, dark, leathery skin one expects of this clone. Rumor has it the original cuttings were from Burgundy. The difference here is that they are planted on sandy soils. Pinot on sand ends up with more fruity aromatics and not as brawny with the iron aromas and mineral aromas of Leidenfrost that is on pure shale. You absolutely can see the two sites are related but the soils have the ability to totally change the dynamics….amazing. A fantastic site with HUGE potential but unfortunately
